Tanvi Asher / Owner & Designer of Peppermint & Asher Bridal
Peppermint was started by designer Tanvi Asher in 2010. Born in India and raised in Oman, Tanvi earned her MFA in Industrial Design at RIT. She spent a few years working in the trenches as a packaging designer for various NYC & Upstate companies. She began making clothing as part of her MFA thesis & as a way to relieve stress after work, but before long, she had a full-fledged cult following, and after a year her hobby was her new career. On the fly, Tanvi taught herself everything about the business of clothing manufacturing.
In 2012, she moved operations from her basement studio to a retail location & studio on Park Ave (Rochester, NY) where now, on any given day, She is seen designing, making, photographing, shipping, and promoting the line.
At this show Tanvi will be debuting her 2016-2017 Bridal line that will feature several of the designer’s sartorial signatures, including figure-flattering corsetry , pintucked, herringbone-like seaming and feminine ruffles and lace.

Sofie Cerankosky / Guest Designer
At just 15 years old, Sofie our youngest designer to ever grace the Sewn Seeds runway. She is currently a student at Brighton High School and works part time at Shop Peppermint.
Her knowledge comes from all over. Sofie said she learned to make the outfits by sketching and researching designers and her grandma taught her how to sew. Her favorite designer is Alexander McQueen.
This years collection would be Sofie’s most time intensive and detail oriented. Here is her summary of what she will be showing:
I would really like to focus on a different part of myself, almost an opposite vibe than october, as you will see in my mini mood board. I love pastels with a passion, and I am also very drawn to light knits, corded thermals, and lace. I love the way those fabrics handle detail and fall on the body. Very effortless and form fitting, casual but fairy-like. I would like to incorporate those. I expect my pieces to be longer, mostly dresses or skirts, and I also want to play around with one pieces/rompers that will be shorter. Definitely more on the bohemian side, which is where my appeal and style gravitates in the spring/summer.
The whole collection will have a vibe of just that, 70’s, light, flowy. summer-like and positive. This is very different from my last show and I am excited to push my horizons and see where I can bring myself as a designer, and to deliver my best work to the show!
